Ashley finishing his American championship with a fourth major, May 8, 2011.

Ashley came to me at 7 years of age. I wish I had been able to have taken him as a two month old, but full-time teaching precluded much in the way of saluki activities for me early in the decade. I will always be grateful to Dean Morris, Farar's Salukis, and Sara Drake, Cimmarron, who bred the litter in Virginia, reared the babies, and held them in reserve--I was just Zarifa's distant co-cowner. The litter was beautifully balanced, of moderate size, and incredibly sweet! Zarifa was finished for Sara by Kevin and Dawn Carlson, Aeolus Salukis, before she was bred to Hakim. I am grateful for their efforts, too!

Ashley was sired by the tri smooth Ch. El Baz Hakim, out of Ch. Shahanshah Brilliant Disguise, "Zarifa." Zarifa was the fifth littermate to finish out of our "Song" litter, born 1995.

Ashley is a profoundly beautiful saluki, his gentle soul if anything even more beautiful than the physical characteristics that have won him notice in several honorable show wins, in addition to a breezy path to his championship. His children have inherited his blythe spirit and his lovely balance and type.
